Hope everyone’s weekend is going well. Kind of sad it’s almost over, looks like next week will be a busy one at work and I’ll need lots of decompress time in the kitchen. :-) Anyway, Fall is rushing towards us now and I love it. The leaves on my front tree are doing the Fall turning thing:
And look what was on one of our cars in the driveway this morning:
Brrr, great excuse to enjoy the fireplace while reading the Sunday paper this morning.
I also tried Gena’s Red Pepper and Hemp Soup:
Tasty, but not that strong, I added a little more curry and sprinkled dry basil on top. I will try again maybe with more pepper and different hemp seeds.
I also went to an Italian themed raw class where recipes such as raw pizza, lasagna, Alfredo sauce and cheesecakes were demonstrated and sampled. The pizza:
The absolutely amazing and complicated cheesecake:
This class focused on many complicated recipes such as bread, pizza crusts and heavy desserts and I’m not quite up to making those on my own yet because there’s more planning and time involved for a busy weekend night and the cheesecake was super rich and heavy and contained tons of nuts and coconut oil, I wouldn’t be surprised if it had more calories than a traditional cheesecake. Very good, but something I’d rarely make. I’m also not up to making breads and tortillas in a dehydrator yet, I find I have not been craving them and have not been overly impressed with the raw breads I have tried. If I do get more into that, I’ll probably have to get a bigger dehydrator. But, it was an interesting class and a great opportunity to meet and talk to other raw foodies. I got a great recipe for a zucchini-based pesto sauce that I’ll probably make this week, it’s simple, tasty and much lighter than traditional pesto.
