I was thrilled to find Costco now has monster bags of fresh cranberries this weekend, I had so much fun with the endless bag last year and get to use them in all raw recipes this year. This morning I threw about a half a cup of fresh cranberries and a packet of Truvia in my smoothie to counter the tartness, it was great! I also loaded my dehydrator with them for a cranberry walnut recipe in Ani’s Book. The also freeze well, making them even better for smoothies.
I also got to Trader Joe’s and had a much less annoying shopping experience than expected. Our local Trader Joe’s is in a cramped old shopping plaza in the creepy, old part of town. I used to dread going on weekends because the checkout lines were so long, they consumed half the store making it horribly annoying to navigate the narrow isles. Thankfully a new Whole Foods opened near by thinning out the chaos a bit. Anyway, I loaded up on more tea, vegan meat substitutes for meat craving nights, frozen artichoke hearts and wine. I also discovered my chihuahua likes the Trader Joe’s brand cat food cans, which she might be getting more often as it’s cheaper than her other food and probably better.
I also tried Gena’s cauliflower soup and found that pine nuts are hella good and they probably should be since they’re basically concentrated nut fat. Anyway, the soup was simple, tasty and very filling. Raw cauliflower may require Beano before hand for those not adjusted to it, thankfully I’m getting better about that.
